NAASC and March of Dimes
National Alumnae Association of Spelman College partners with March of Dimes to end the racial disparities that exist for Black moms and their babies.
NAASC

The partnership between National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NAASC) and March of Dimes is focused on ending the racial disparities that exist for Black moms, who are 3 times more likely to die during childbirth or in the first year after giving birth, and Black babies, who are more likely to be born preterm or with low birthweight. These outcomes have lifelong impacts on family and community health.

NAASC is the official organization that supports Spelman College, a historically Black university for women. With more than 20,000 alumnae across the globe, the association is well-positioned to change the national narrative on health disparities. It provides, encourages, and promotes growth and development of alumnae through leadership opportunities and partnership alliances.

March of Dimes has been working with NAASC since September 2020 to support Black women in caring and advocating for themselves before, during, and after pregnancy to ensure that they and their children survive and thrive.
