FUND THE MISSION

Racial Disparities in Maternal Morbidity and Mortality - 2nd Annual Conference

March of Dimes is proud to partner with UConn Health to convene an action-oriented educational gathering of concerned stakeholders from the obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, midwifery, nursing, birth support services, advocacy, health education, and public health communities in Connecticut.

SUPPORT THE MISSION

March of Dimes volunteers and staff work to influence both legislative and regulatory activities in each state by serving as powerful voices for the needs of pregnant people, infants, children and families. Our efforts span the full range of our annual Advocacy & Government Affairs priorities, including access to care, research and surveillance, and prevention and education.

In Connecticut, the March of Dimes has secured several legislative wins in recent years by passing legislation to establish accommodations and protections against discriminations in the workplace for pregnant women, ensuring that more pregnant people have access to health insurance, and working with coalition partners to pass the Paid Medical and Family Leave Act and the Connecticut Community Health Workers Initiative, which will expand the guidelines for community care workers to improve access to health care and patient health education. March of Dimes Connecticut also advocated to defeat legislation imposing punitive measures against pregnant women with substance use disorders, and legislation to eliminate state tax exemptions for eligible nonprofit organizations.

In 2020 we will continue to work in partnership with others to lead the fight for the health of all moms and babies, at the State Capitol as well as in communities across Connecticut. We need your help to support this vital work. Support the mission today, donate here.  Thank you!
